Nissan Navara vs Nissan Hardbody vs everything else

Nissan Navara vs Nissan Hardbody vs everything else

A fishing mad friend of mine assures me that the Nissan Navara and the Nissan Hard Body are the right vehicles to take fishing. Apparently if you are a hardcore fisherman this involves trudging 100kg of gear through the mud to places that neither man nor beast could walk…………. This makes sense …………. if I was a fish these are exactly the waters where I would swim so as not to become dinner……..

I’m told that the fishing fraternity have owned Land Rover’s, Toyota’s, Nissans, Mitsubishi’s……. and the lot………… and the only ones that don’t get stuck in the mud or break are the Nissan’s……….. kind of confirmed by watching Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman’s Long Way Down, where the Toyota Land Cruiser gets stuck and the Nissan Patrols make it through……… OK it’s an old Land Cruiser vs. a new Nissan Patrol………. But still………….the fishing fraternity recommend Nissan Navara and Nissan Hard Body and say that the petrol (gasoline for our North American friends) rather than diesel is best for reliability.

Checking with a friend of mine who used to work for Nissan as to “why the petrol rather than the diesel”………… He tells me ………”most mere mortals don’t know how to treat a diesel with the correct love and care”………… making sure to not over rev the engine when near to the end of a journey and then sitting in the car in the parking lot for 5 minutes (listening to some half brained DJ rambling on about his pet hate for the day) to let the turbo cool down……. However one of the directors of our business seems quite happy with his Toyota Prado and now has a Toyota Fortuner for fishing…… I somehow think his wife “forces” him to go to places with less mud though………….. her and the kids don’t seem to think that wearing waders is a fun thing to do on vacation………………and one of my old employee’s is quite happy with his Mazda double cab for his fishing trips……..

BUT he has a nice agreement with a farmer on the banks of the Vaal River to use a large piece of water front that is isolated and doesn’t have any mud close by……………. So my conclusion is……….. if you want to go fishing ...... buy anything you like………. If you want to actually  catch fish buy a Nissan Navara or Hardbody double cab petrol…… or negotiate with a farmer………. If you want to listen to the radio for 20 minutes extra a day and drive slowly for the last 5km of every journey and have trucks passing you…….. OR you want to drive from Scotland to Cape Town in two and a half months………….buy the diesel…………..

Check out the pics of what the New Nissan Navara should look like below.....
